Murder, she wrote (Weekly Photo Challenge: Wrong)

What will you do if you became witness of a crime? It’s wrong or not to try to avoid the problem? If you had the opportunity to stop a murder, risking your own life, would you do it?

Murder, she wrote is my tribute to the mystery and detective culture and to those afternoons growing watching Angela Lansbury as Jessica Fletcher, the mystery writer become into an amateur detective.

I’ve mixed photo, draw (it has a part of other of my artworks: The SandMan, Olimpia) and digital art on it. The witness observing the murder is lost in the yellow, the main color in the picture, because yellow color can be bright as the sun, but can also be the color of the disease and the shock… depends on the tone. The murder scene is inspired in the last scene of the game Tomb Raider Legend.

Yellow, the original version, just contained the witness observing and it was conceived as a gift to the virtual museum the MKAC for it’s III anniversary. I hope you like them!!
Click on the images to see them better and… comments are welcome! (And if you like them, let me know it please!)

“Time to save universe again”
Lara Croft, Tomb Raider.

The “game culture” (culture of video-games) is part of our day to day. Xbox, Nintendo, Play Station, … console flood the market with the promise to “Live the Adventure”, to stop being passive spectators of films, of the life, to become the protagonists of incredible experiences. Windows, Mac OS, Linux, cell phones, … None operating system can resists the attraction of video-games.

Aloha player, this is my personal invitation to you to dive into my last creative work, XIBALBA-GAME OVER! (1), an artistic intervention whose stage is the head of a “gamer”, a collage of recycled parts that conform a human being, in the privacy of its room, who plays with Lara Croft, the feminist icon par excellence of the “game culture”.
(1) Xibalba, the Mayan Underworld, was my subject for the big art intervention “Mexico in video-games, comics and films” with Art Interventions team for Isla del Emprendedor in summer’09. “XIBALBA-GAME OVER!” is just a little window to original Xibalba’s art intervention, a special collage for UWA, and my invitation to live the adventure!

Technique: mixed technique
*Most of the textures I’ve used about Tomb Raider are based in pictures-captures from the videogame I’ve taken while I was playing, others are images from different videos on YouTube, but some are based in TRU’s original artworks.
